Brenda is the Director of Stage Academy and our amazing dance teacher. She opened the doors to the national and international award winning Stage Academy nearly 14 years ago and has being going from strength to strength ever since.
Brenda first started her dancing career at the young age of 4! Her first dance class was...(no prizes for guessing!) TAP in the Patrican Primary school! Since then she has completed classes in jazz, modern, hip hop and contemporary. Not only a dancer, Brenda had her first acting roll at the age of 10 playing the role of Kim in the classic musical 'Showboat' with Clane Musical Society. She choreographed her first show at the age of 12 in Kilkenny and hasn't stopped since; from the longest running pantomime troupe in Ireland, St. Coneth's Pantomime Troupe, to school musicals all over the country and numerous St. Conleth's Variety teams, she is a renowned choreographer both locally and nationally. Brenda has also judged many competitions including the annual Community Games Talent finals.
During Brenda’s 14 years of leadership at Stage Academy, she has won numerous awards for her dances on both a national and worldwide level. Brenda won “Best Dance” for her outstanding production of “Anything Goes” in 2015 and for “Best Opening” in 2016 at the All Ireland Variety Shows and saw Stage Academy to All Ireland Champions victory not once but three times (2014,2015,2017). Brenda’s dancing has also been seen on the world stage at The World Championships of Performing Arts in Los Angeles in 2016, winning many gold, silver and bronze medals! Brenda has over 25 years of experience with children and young adults and the relationship she builds with them is second to none. Her students look up to her not only as a teacher, but as a friend, a mentor and a sister.
As well as running weekly Stage Academy classes, Brenda also holds Easter and Summer Camps annually with Stage Academy and runs dance fitness classes (Dancercise) in the Patrician Primary for teens and adults weekly. Contact Brenda for further information!
